Winter Wonderland...

As vacation winds down and I get ready to head back to work Monday, my marathon training, with the National Marathon only 11 weeks away, is picking up.

My last 2 weeks have been very solid and this week, with only 2 days left should be in the range of 105-115 miles depending on how Saturday and Sunday shake out.

To the right, you can see the what the current weather is like up here in Cleveland.  This picture was taken 20 minutes before I headed out the door this afternoon for my run.

People ask all the time 'How do you train in that stuff?'.  First of all, I'm far from the only one training in these conditions on a daily basis.  Secondly, you just deal with it... really, there's nothing else you can do... yeah it sucks for quality and the constant slipping and sliding gets old, but if you live here and want to train for the spring... you have no other choices.

* My most recent workout was yesterday morning.  I met up with Fredo, Frank, and Shane for a workout at BW.  We all did our own thing, but my schedule called for 3m, 2m, 1m at 5:30 pace with 400m jog recovery.  I hit all the times (16:28, 11:02, 5;28) and, overall, was pleased with the effort.  The legs didn't feel too good, but the lungs were very solid.  And for where the training is right now, I'll take it.

* New Year's Eve (yesterday) also marked Head's and my 4th wedding anniversary.  We 'celebrated' by going out to one of our favorite local spots (Cornerstone Brewery) for lunch and then headed to the movies, for only the 2nd time in over 3+ years, to see 'Up in the Air'.

* Looking back on my blogging frequency for 2009... in all I posted 227 posts... 40 down from last year's total, but 1 up from 2007.

* Timothy
