Coach for Cash: Training Program & FAQs

Sunday, November 29, 2009

As I noted in the disclaimers, I have allowed my own submission into the Coach for Cash contest mix.  So here it is... click here for to open in Excel.

I wanted to post this prior to any other postings of programs... as starting tomorrow, I will start posting the other submissions, one by one, for your review.

In regards to my program... it is very similar to my 'self-coached' plan that I used for Columbus 2008.  Pretty simple and basic - not much explanation needed - but that has typically been the formulation that has worked well for me in the past.

* FAQs:

I also wanted to address some answers to some very common questions I have gotten via email:

- I was 'self coached' for the Columbus Marathon.

- Currently, I am free and clear of any injuries.  I recently had a injury re-occur out of nowhere, but over the last week I have returned to 100%.

- I have no problem doing road intervals, as opposed to doing work on the track.  However, with winter soon arriving in Cleveland, the opportunity to do intervals on the road will be limited.

- I may have a pacer or two for the marathon... at least through 15 miles.  Also, if you win the contest you can personally pace or have someone you know run with me.

- I tend to prefer 9-11 runs per week (so 2-4 doubles)... this just helps with my family / work life, time management, etc. and allows me to train at a higher level.
