I've never had a significant running injury repeat itself... except rolled ankles, but I don't file those in the same category as other running injuries. However, my lower left leg tendon sheath injury is back once again. This is the third time in the last 8 months.
It first showed up in late March and forced me to miss 17 days. Then, popped up again in September, that time 25 days off was the damage.
Well, it is back... arriving as quickly and painful as the first two times. I still don't know what the injury is exactly... as that has never been able to be pinpointed. It seems to be intense inflammation of the tibialis anterior tendon and muscle sheath. But the origin of the injury - pure mystery.... could be a stability issue, torque issue... who knows. Frustration is near an all time high right now in regards to running injuries, so part of me is tired of looking for the answer.
This time around I am going to get some treatment, but and try and hold out on taking any time off... just long enough to make it through December 12th and some pacing obligations I have - then a decision will be made based on how it's at.

The disappointment is, I had one goal - make it through the remainder of the calendar year running everyday and healthy, beyond that I had nothing planned or scheduled for 2009. That simple goal doesn't look so achievable now.

Bummed to hear that, Tim. Take your time and heal well. You still have many years of racing and PRs left.
Tim, shoot me an email when you have a minute: nlstanford@yahoo.com. I want to talk to you about your injury and about the Thunder Road Marathon.
