Gators, part 2
Wednesday, July 30, 2008
As I mentioned, Head missed out on the 'gator action' last night... but on our run this morning we saw three 7+ footers up close and hung around to watch them for a bit. There was a dad and his two daughters fishing off of a little deck... well, trying to fish as well as they could with the 3 gators roaming the waters. After talking with him - he was telling me how the gators come after the lures and will attack the fishing lines... so he was the 'decoy' as his daughters tried to fish - he would cast in to pull the gators away from the other lines... it looked like a fun game!
One of the gators was very 'active' and was literally chasing down the lure, like a cat does a a string with a toy tied to the end. It was quite amusing... and very impressive how fast those things can move in the water. The other 2 gators were patrolling very slowly... they weren't as energetic, and seemed content on chilling out in the sun.
* As for the run itself... it sucked - hot, humid, brutal... and miserable - but I had good company.
